Lequyen January 7

Here is a sneak peak at the recent shoot I did with LeQuyen

LeQuyen and I have been working together for at least 6 years, nothing feeling more natural than having her in front of the camera.

Enjoy this behind the scenes photo of her touching up her makeup.

Selective Coloring

Selective coloring seems to be a popular fad, But I often wonder how long until we look back at this and go what were we thinking? What started out as a fun trick photographers could do, was quickly ruined by almost anyone grabbing photo editing software and trying their own samples of selective coloring. The fast saturation of this effect quickly ruined the appeal to many photographers.

I still get several requests from couples, models, and business to create this affect, and although it has remained somewhat popular I think the jury is still out on how long it will last.

Check out this two photos above, Identical in every way except for every color bu pink and been removed. Then please comment and let me know what version you prefer?

Santa’s Helpers are sexier than you thought!

Here is a fun behind the scenes look from the Christmas shoot.

Always Shoot Raw! Here is an example why.

People often use the word editing to refer to photo manipulation, changes something major in the photo like somebody head on a different body, etc. Editing can be light adjustments, colors changes, blemish removals or exposure balancing

I always recommended shooting in Raw, because so much of a file can be adjusted when raw editing.  Take a look at this first example, here is a shot under exposed before any adjustments of any kind, shot, low ambient light, ISO 1600, with a Canon 5D MkII,

Below is a light room edited file, adjustments to exposure, luminance, Contrast and White Balance. This has not been even opened in photoshop yet, and all adjustments are temporary and can make any adjustments required by reopening the file and adjusting it back to the first image or trying a different effect.

Below: The below image was edited in Photoshop, we took the Light room image and modified it to the desired effect, A little Airbrushing of the skin, balancing shadows, replacing background with left side and adding in stars for a dreamy Christmas feeling. We also removed the
tattoo on the arm, Brightened the shadows in the Christmas tree and added the writing.
I try and edit not to change the photo but to enhance what I like about the photo.
